Short and Sweet Week: Panels

I made these on the same night...definitely a theme here!
Love adding a plain panel to a great patterned fabric.
(And check out this clever Mum who uses some great fabric panels in some of her creations.)

Short and Sweet Week: Packages

How much fun it is to receive packages in the mail (especially when they are unexpected)! Have a look at a few of the things that this sweet and thoughtful lady sent our little family recently.
Dressed up singlets with appliquéd braces and ties for the boy.

And some for the girls with lace and their own letters.
Thanks Bec and family...we really loved our goodies!
(and how about opening an etsy store soon??!)

Short and Sweet Week: Mint

Add some peppermint essence and a drop of green food colouring to your favourite white chocolate mousse recipe, then top with mint leaves and blueberries. Fresh!

Short and Sweet Week: Pyjamas

It was easier for me to make this pair of pyjamas for Elara, than to brave the shops (with kids in tow) to buy some!

Short and Sweet Week: Cakes

This one is Fleur Wood's rhubarb meringue cake.
My version (made for my sister's birthday) was yummy but not quite as pretty!

And I call these "Brett cakes"!
(For my brother).

Short and Sweet Week: Ruffles

Lately I have been indulging in some sewing/crafting/cooking in the wee hours of the night, in order to satisfy my need (or maybe want) to complete something (or anything) creative. This works for me because I'm choosing simple projects that my tired brain can cope with. Words though, (or ones that make sense), are not forthcoming in the wee hours of the night. So I have a few finished projects but very few blog posts.
My plan is to catch up over the next seven days with a "short and sweet week".
A few photos and a few words, each day.
Starting today!
A ruffly outfit for a new and pretty baby.
I just love purple and grey!

Quilt guilt

My first quilting attempt was 4 1/2 years ago.
It was a mini baby quilt for my new baby girl.
I was new at it and I think I made a pretty good attempt considering I was clouded in an "I've got a new baby" haze.

It's time for my second attempt.
(I've been inspired by friends Mandy and Debb)
It will be another mini baby quilt, but this time for a sweet boy!
I feel a bit bad that he is currently lying on a purple and orange (with flowers) quilt...
just because I'm a little overwhelmed at the thought of quilting.
So this one will be simple.
I'll keep you posted.
