She grows, she grows, she just grows

Last week, Elara made this library bag to take to school. 

(Grade one girls don't need their Mum's help quite so much any more)
She picked the fabric. 
Used the foot pedal.
Guided the fabric through. 
Stopped to take out pins.
Reversed at the beginning and end.
And was so proud of her first sewing project.
 
Twenty-five years ago, I went to my Grandma's house and  made this pencil case to take to school. 
I imagine that I felt just as grown up, 
just as proud, 
because I have kept it all these years.
Not to be outdone by big sister, India had a go too.
She used the propped up foot pedal and took out the pins.
I guided the fabric and helped her reverse.
(She's not quite as independent, yet, you see)
Oh please stay, I like it that way.
